Support Engineer - leuven (belgium) - permanent position
We're currently recruiting for a Support Engineer to join a network operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the real-time supervision, monitoring, and operational support of critical network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across the environment.
You will act as a key point of contact for network incidents, working to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that may impact service. This includes analyzing alerts, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely escalation when needed.The position requires a strong operational mindset, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining service quality.
Key responsibilities
Monitor and supervise network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents in a timely manner
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
Support maintenance activities, upgrades, and network changes
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations and incidents
Participate in on-call rotations when required
Provide clear communication and updates to stakeholders
Requirements
Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) and good command of English
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
Experience with network monitoring tools and incident management systems
Ability to troubleshoot network issues methodically under pressure
Familiarity with protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS is an advantage
Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations
Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
