Tasks

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking creative and motivated Graphic Design & Visual Communication Interns to join our team in Brussels for two internship periods: one starting in September 2026 and one starting in February 2027.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a final-year student looking to gain practical experience in graphic design, digital, branding, and visual communication within a small international team. The internship is particularly relevant for students who want to strengthen their professional portfolio through real projects with visible impact.

As GIRP is currently undergoing a rebranding process, the intern will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development and implementation of the new visual identity across a wide range of communication materials and initiatives.

The role is primarily focused on graphic design and visual communication. Skills in video editing, or motion design would be a strong plus, although candidates are not expected to master every area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Communications Team in the creation and development of GIRP’s visual communication materials. Main tasks will include:

  • Contribute to the development and rollout of the new visual identity and branding across different communication channels and materials.
  • Create and produce communication materials such as social media visuals, data infographics, event logos, digital campaigns, promotional material, visuals for the website…
  • Adapt and resize assets for different formats and channels.
  • Contribute ideas and moodboards/concepts at the early stage of projects.
  • Help ensure consistency and quality across all GIRP’s visual outputs in line with brand guidelines.
  • Where relevant, and depending on experience, support the creation/editing of video assets, animated content, or motion graphics.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Final year student, currently enrolled in a relevant academic programme in graphic design, visual arts, video & motion design, or a related field. The internship must be a mandatory part of the academic curriculum.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Good command of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent design tools.
  • Ability to design for both print and digital formats.
  • Strong eye for layout, typography, composition, and visual consistency.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small international team.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and incorporate feedback.
  • Portfolio or relevant work samples demonstrating creative and graphic design skills.
  • EU national.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in digital content creation and visual storytelling.
  • Knowledge of video editing, animation or motion design tools.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Canva, or presentation design tools.
  • Interest in corporate communications, EU healthcare or European affairs.

Benefits

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Hands-on experience in graphic design and visual communication within a European association, as part of a young, multinational, and collaborative team based in Brussels.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a live rebranding process and other high-visibility communication projects (new website, new branding and visual guidelines creation, animated videos production, new social media and visibility templates creation…).
  • A varied internship with practical work across digital, branding, layout, EU institutional communications, and event-related designs.
  • The opportunity to work directly with design agencies and web agencies across Europe.
  • The chance to build a strong portfolio through meaningful EU public health communications, with design work that is published and used in real-world contexts.
  • A monthly stipend of €800 all taxes included, intended to help cover accommodation and public transport costs during the internship.

HOW TO APPLY

Please send your CV, portfolio and a cover letter specifying:

  • your availability,
  • your preferred internship period,
  • and confirmation that the internship is a mandatory part of your academic programme.
