Overview:

Fluxys is an international energy infrastructure group with 1,300 employees active in gas transmission & storage and liquefied natural gas terminalling.

As a purpose-led company, we’re committed to fast-track the shift to a carbon neutral world. We explore new technologies and invest in infrastructure to accommodate hydrogen, biomethane, CO2 and other molecules for a climate neutral future.

The Gas Flow Operations Department plays a strategic role in our organisation through its ongoing monitoring, management and optimisation of gas flows across the grid, ensuring the safety/security, reliability and availability of our infrastructure.

Dispatching is very much the nerve centre of Fluxys' operations, with the teams managing transmission system balance in real time, following up in situ on maintenance/repairs and pigging, and responding to any critical situations. They also provide vital coordination with European operators to guarantee the safe and efficient transmission of energy in line with the requirements of markets and regulators.

For Dispatching, we are looking for a Dispatching Manager (m/f/x).

  • You will implement technical constraints, contractual obligations and safety rules, while striving for efficiency, energy and economic performance.
  • You will work closely with the Dispatching Operations Support Manager to prepare all of the gas flow-related aspects associated with grid maintenance/repairs and pigging, ensuring meticulous and effective coordination.
  • You will put together a robust, scalable training programme fully tailored to operational requirements, in order to support the teams' skills development.
  • You will make sure that each staff member has the required knowledge and reflexes to operate the grid safely and respond confidently to any emergency.
Incident management
  • You will coordinate dispatching in the event of an incident based on crisis procedures, using trained and prepared operators.
  • You will develop and embed a strong safety culture.
  • You will take on the role of on-call gas flow engineer.
  • Process management & continuous improvement
  • You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the processes managed by Dispatching: nominations, flow planning, operations and maintenance/repairs.
  • You will optimise existing processes, develop best practices, challenge operating methods and facilitate change.
  • You will prepare Dispatching for major transformations: H₂, CO₂, digitalisation, AI, new services, etc.
Stakeholder management & external representation
  • You will be responsible for communications with gas suppliers, customers, regulatory authorities and other market players about the state of the grid, planned maintenance and emergency response measures.
  • You will build and leverage an active professional network with neighbouring transmission/distribution system operators.
  • You will represent Fluxys in European working groups (ENTSOG-gas, etc.) and participate in international projects as a dispatching expert.
About you
  • You are an outstanding people manager. You have a supportive, structured and development-oriented leadership style, focusing on the independence and collective performance of your staff members.
  • You have at least five years' experience of managing large teams.
  • You are a qualified industrial or civil engineer or have equivalent experience.

  • You have a strategic, cross-functional and critical vision, enabling you to understand, manage and transform activities in line with the organisation's overall direction.
  • You have a high level of resilience, maintaining your calm, judgement and effectiveness in demanding and high-stakes situations.
  • You pay attention to detail and adhere strictly to procedures, while also not being afraid to take relevant initiatives and instilling this way of working in your teams.
  • You possess a keen sense of quality and safety, with demanding standards and an unflagging commitment to operational excellence.
  • You build strong relationships, tailor your communication to whomever you are speaking to and demonstrate a real ability to influence and make an impact.
  • You show great agility in the face of organisational and operational changes, adjusting activities, resources and priorities with clarity and efficiency.
  • You have substantial potential for development towards positions with higher levels of responsibility.
  • Last but not least, you can thrive in uncertain, constantly evolving and complex environments, by being targeted, flexible and proactive in your responses.
