Legal Counsel
Robert Half Talent Solutions is currently looking for a Legal Counsel (m/f/x) for one of its clients active in the insurance sector.
Join a key player operating at the intersection of insurance and technology. In this high-impact role, you will act as the sole legal expert, ensuring that innovative digital solutions fully comply with the Belgian regulatory framework while supporting business growth.
As the sole Legal Counsel (m/f/x), you will play a central role across the organization, partnering closely with IT, Procurement and Data Protection teams. You will translate complex legal frameworks into practical, business-oriented solutions, with a strong focus on regulated insurance products.
Key responsibilities :
Legal advisory & regulatory compliance (core focus)- Ensure that products and digital platforms comply with Belgian insurance regulations;
- Act as a subject matter expert on IDD and FSMA requirements;
- Identify legal risks linked to product developments and new initiatives;
- Translate legal and regulatory constraints into clear, actionable guidance for Product, IT and Business teams;
- Maintain close interactions with key stakeholders across the insurance ecosystem.
Contract management & legal governance :
- Draft and review various commercial contracts (for clients, partners and suppliers) ;
- Oversee, update and improve contract templates and processes ;
- Support others departments on contract negotiations ;
- Conduct legal research and coordinate with external counsels on complex or specialized matters (e.g. DORA, GDPR, AI Act).
Risk & litigation coordination :
- Manage and coordinate litigation files (analysis, strategy, follow-up) ;
- Act as the central point of contact with external law firms ;
- Ensure alignment between internal stakeholders and external advisors.
The required profile for the Legal Counsel (m/f/x) position:
- Master's degree in Law ;
- Minimum 7 years of experience as an in-house legal counsel and/or as a lawyer ;
- Proven experience in Belgian insurance law and insurance regulatory (IDD, FSMA) ;
- Strong expertise in contract law and legal risk assessment ;
- Solid understanding of GDPR / data protection and general business law ;
- Pragmatic, business-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach ;
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Fluent/Excellent in French and Dutch ;
- Good command of English.
