CEN and CENELEC, based in Brussels, are internationally recognized non-profit associations and officially designated European Standardization Organizations (alongside ETSI). CEN and CENELEC provide European platforms for the standardization of products, services, technologies, processes and systems across a wide range of sectors.European standards help build the European internal market, removing barriers to trade and strengthening Europe's position in the global economy.
More than 200.000 technical experts from industry, associations, public administrations, academia and societal organizations are involved in the CEN and CENELEC network.
Representing 43 members and employing 95 professionals, we play a pivotal role in driving a resilient, green, and digital EU Single Market.

The Sustainable Systems and Consumers department addresses a broad range of topics related to consumer protection, safety, and sustainable systems. The department also covers standards in the fields of transport and logistics with attention to sustainability, accessibility, and service aspects.
Function- The Project Manager for European Standards in Sustainable Systems and Consumers will be in charge of Technical Committees in the field of transport and logistics such as Alternative Fuels Infrastructure, transport of dangerous goods, guided transport, automotive etc (including sustainability and accessibility aspects) and services thus supporting the development of relevant documents, interacting with CEN and CENELEC Members’ representatives and experts from different background/industries and nationalities.
- Furthermore he/she will interface with the European Commission for the topics of responsibilities and represent CEN and CENELEC in relevant meetings whenever required.
The four main areas of activities are the following:
- Standardization Rules Advisor
- Ensures the correct implementation of CEN and CENELEC rules for drafting standards by promoting awareness, delivering training and webinars, providing procedural guidance, and performing quality assessments of Harmonised Standards in coordination with the relevant teams.
- Monitors technical and regulatory developments and supports the progress of projects by analysing issues, conducting fact-finding activities, cross-checking sources, and proposing solutions or recommendations to relevant governing bodies.
- Sectoral Representative
- Represents CEN and CENELEC interests in meetings as an ambassador dealing with sectoral topics in the assigned portfolio to facilitate discussions and engage with stakeholders;
- Develops essential relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (colleagues, members and partner organizations of CEN and CENELEC, Technical Committees, standardization organisations at regional and global level and European institutions …); Prepares position papers and briefings to profile standardization in the sector;
- Prepares communication materials: articles, videos, podcasts, etc ;
- Be the single point of contact for the sector.

- You will report directly to Team Account Manager Joanna, the team leader Sustainable Systems & Consumers. Joanna has been working for more than 10 years at Cen and Cenelec. She expects a proactive attitude from her new project manager—someone who sees opportunities and solutions rather than challenges.
- You will be part of a team of five project managers.
- The team values collaboration within a multicultural, vibrant environment, fostering a positive mindset for everyone.
- Master’s degree in engineering, business administration or equivalent.
- Very good spoken and written English
- Relevant professional experience in the EU environment is a plus
- Policy and/or technical knowledge related to various fields, e.g. transports and/or services sectors including the aspects of sustainability would be useful, but not required
- Awareness of EU institutions and regulatory processes or willingness to learn about them
- Ability to work against tight deadlines, being structured and organized
- A high capability for prioritization and flexibility, adapting to urgencies
- Ability to juggle between political and strategic exchanges and more technical discussions
- Ability to present complex matters in a clear and concise way
- Ability to undertake related administrative tasks independently, as there is no administrative assistance
